Artist Bio
Allen Jones lives and works in London and is regarded as one of the most influential artists of British Pop Art. As a painter and sculptor, Jones often explores themes of sexual preferences in his works, provoking with skillfully staged eroticism. He gained significant recognition in the late 1960s for his provocative and highly realistic sculptures depicting restrained figures functioning as furniture pieces.

1955-1961: Studied at Hornsey College of Art, London
1961-1963: Taught graphic design at Croydon College of Art
1963: Won the Prix des Jeunes Artistes at the Paris Biennale
1973: Received the Design & Art Direction Award for the Pirelli Calendar
1986: Elected as a member of the Royal Academy of Arts
1988: Received the Art and Work Award for the Cotton’s Atrium sculpture in London
2000: Awarded the Design & Art Direction Award for the Millennium Stamp
