ARTIST BIO

 

Born as Gudmundur Gudmundson in 1932 in Olafsvik, Iceland.

 

In 1949 sign up at the Painting and Crafts School in Reykjavik and graduated in 1951 with an art teacher diploma.

 

1954 he moved to Florence

 

1958 he moved to Paris

 

1967 he renamed himself Erró

 

Erró's striking, figurative art - painting as well as graphics - uses elements of everyday culture from comics to cookbooks

 

Erró lives and works in Paris
